Unemployment Reality

Wow. I can't believe I am typing these words. I lost my job today. I was laid off from Progress Energy due to budgetary reasons. I am am in shock to say the least. Not sure what to say, how to feel, how to stop crying. I took a lot of pride in my job and thought I did it well. Since I have no children my job had become my identity really and now it is gone.

I'm numb. My mind is racing...wow.

Oh wow. I'm so sorry, Sarah. I don't know what words of comfort to offer...

While it won't be the same, I hope that you can find a new job soon. Good luck. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Being out of a job stinks -- no two ways about it. Most of us have been there at one time or another.

But you will get through this. There'll be other jobs. Give yourself a couple of days to feel however you want to feel (and eat all the ice cream you want) then make a plan of attack for your job search.

You are defined by more than your job. You have friends and family who love you and support you. Just remember -- "This, too, shall pass".

Like everyone else, I am at a loss for words, but you have Sam and I's prayers and thoughts. Like others have said, you are not alone, and we are here to help one another out. You helped calmed my fears when I was jobless and during my moments of uncertainty with my medical, so we wish you the best on this new challenge in your life. Not to be a salesman for VA, but consider looking at jobs at Bay Pines. check www.usajobs.com to scan for and apply for available Federal openings. God bless and good luck.
